June 21—On Sunday, June 13, 2010, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) lied through his teeth, in response to a direct challenge from Rachel Brown, the LaRouche Democrat who is challenging him for the party's Congressional nomination in the upcoming September Massachusetts primaries. Brown has focused her campaign on the reinstatement of the Glass-Steagall Act, the FDR-era law that created a wall of separation between the commercial and investment banks and insurance companies. Brown has also forcefully called for the impeachment of President Barack Obama, and for a vast expansion of the NASA manned space program, which President Obama has shut down.
Appearing together before the Brookline Democratic Club, Brown accused Frank of being one of the engineers of the destruction of Glass-Steagall, and one of Wall Street and London's key defenders on Capitol Hill.
In response to Brown, Barney lost his cool, and lied, repeatedly. I voted against the repeal of Glass-Steagall, Barney pleaded, and lied that the bill now working its way through House-Senate conference would be the strongest banking reform bill since the New Deal. Barney is going to eat those words!
About the only true thing that Barney said was that he did, indeed, vote against the Gramm, Leach, Bliley bill, the 1999 Financial Services Modernization act that repealed Glass-Steagall—but only after the House and Senate had caved in to Wall Street pressure, and passage was absolutely assured.
In fact, the House version of the Glass-Steagall repeal passed on July 20, 1999 without objection, and without any record of where individual Members of the House stood. The controversy between the House and Senate versions centered on the Community Reinvestment Act, which required banks to provide loans and banking services in low-income communities—not on the underlying issue of the repeal of Glass-Steagall.
And ever since the Nov. 4, 1999 repeal of Glass-Steagall, Barney Frank has been a powerful and consistent advocate of Wall Street interests—against the interests of the vast majority of Americans.

* In 2007, Frank, as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, boasted that he had played a central role in blocking any consideration of the Homeowners and Bank Protection Act (HBPA), the emergency law proposed by Lyndon LaRouche, and endorsed by hundreds of city councils, state legislatures and leading politicians and labor leaders throughout the United States, that would have put an indefinite freeze on home foreclosures, and would have placed the banking system under bankruptcy protection, under revived Glass-Steagall standards.

* In the still-ongoing deliberations on a banking reform bill, Frank blocked any House consideration of Glass-Steagall, by preventing two House bills, by Reps. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) and John Dingell (D-Mich.) from coming up for debate and vote. Both bills were referred to Frank's Financial Services Committee, and Frank tossed them in the trash can. He also blocked the Hinchey bill from being added to the House version of financial reform as an amendment.

* Now, Frank has further lined up with Wall Street, in the effort to remove the amendment, forcing banks to divest their derivatives trading desks, that was incorporated into the Senate bill, under the sponsorship of Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.), who chairs the Senate Agriculture Committee. The Lincoln amendment, now Title 7 of the Dodd bill, is under massive attack from Wall Street's super-banks, and Barney has made clear which side of the barricade he is on.
First, on May 21, following a meeting at the White House, Frank publicly trashed the Lincoln amendment, declaring that it went "too far," and immediately, stock prices for Goldman Sachs and other mega-banks that would be hard hit by the derivatives ban, shot up.
When a group of New York Congressmen, led by Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-NY), sent a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Rep. Frank and Rep. Colin Peterson, on June 14, demanding that the Lincoln amendment be killed, Barney Frank boasted that he had encouraged the New Yorkers to keep pressing for its removal, in a June 15 interview with Huffington Post: "It's a legitimate concern of theirs, and I told them they should keep arguing."
Ackerman had flagrantly threatened to defeat the bill if the Lincoln provisions remained intact, boasting that the entire 26 Member New York delegation would defend Wall Street at all costs. "Wall Street is one of our umbilical cords, it's the oxygen," he told Huffington Post.
The darker secret that Barney Frank desperately wishes to avoid, particularly as the primary election campaign heats up, is that he has been, for the entire time he has served in the U.S. House of Representatives (since Jan. 1981), Alan Greenspan's boy toy.
A serious review of the 15-year Wall Street and City of London drive to kill Glass-Steagall tells the story that Barney is desperate to hide.

- JP Morgan Declares War -

In December 1984, JP Morgan, the most British of all the Wall Street investment houses, circulated an internal pamphlet, prepared by a team of inhouse economists, led by William C. Dudley. The pamphlet, "Rethinking Glass Steagall," was a clarion call for a fullscale war to break the Glass-Steagall Act, and return to the pre-FDR era of unbridled financier cartelization. At the time, Alan Greenspan was a JP Morgan director, and he would go on to be the single most important player in the takedown of Glass-Steagall.
"Rethinking Glass Steagall" was subtitled "The case for allowing bank holding company subsidiaries to underwrite and deal in corporate securities." The report summary was explicit: "Fundamental changes in our economy, important shifts in the demand for financial services, and the resulting competition among different classes of financial institutions in recent years have produced what is aptly termed a revolution in the financial services market. In this environment, competitive inequalities inherent in the rigid segmentation of the financial services industry provide another compelling reason to rethink Glass-Steagall.
"This study analyzes the major issues raised by proposals to allow bank holding company subsidiaries to underwrite and deal in corporate debt and equity securities. It first examines the arguments most commonly made to justify preservation of artificial barriers to competition imposed by Glass-Steagall and finds these arguments have little merit."
The conclusions reached by JP Morgan were no surprise: "The study concludes, and Morgan believes, that there is no valid reason to preserve the securities industry's protected position in capital markets." In other words, Glass-Steagall had to go.

- Morgan's Greenspan Takes Charge of the Fed -

Three years after "Morgan" concluded that Glass-Steagall had to be crushed, Alan Greenspan took over the Federal Reserve. In short order, Greenspan began to implement the takedown of Glass-Steagall, precisely as it was spelled out in the Morgan blueprint.
One of the tools that Greenspan employed, in illegally destroying Glass-Steagall years before the formal 1999 repeal, was the discretionary authority vested in the Fed Chairman, in a loophole, written into the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956. The bill was intended to strengthen regulation of bank holding companies, and restrict interstate banking. However, the added powers vested in the Federal Reserve Board were abused by Greenspan, to allow banks to engage in securities trading.
Prior to Greenspan's arrival at the Fed, banks were only allowed to generate five percent of their earnings from non-commercial banking activities. Through the early 1990s, according to economic historian Charles Geisst, among others, Greenspan steadily boosted the percentage, to the point that, by 1996, banks were allowed to generate 25 percent of their earnings by investment banking.
Still, however, under Glass-Steagall, commercial banks were barred from owning brokerage houses or insurance companies, despite the fact that they were allowed now to engage in significant amounts of securities marketing.
Those barriers were smashed, by Greenspan, in 1988, when he granted a waiver to Travelers Insurance Company, then headed by Sanford Weill, to buy Citibank. Travelers owned Salomon Smith Barney, a large investment bank. The Travelers-Citibank merger, thus, for the first time since the passage of Glass-Steagall, allowed a single bank holding company to own a commercial bank, an insurance company and an investment bank.
It was a total violation of the law, but Greenspan, in his zeal to kill Glass-Steagall, granted Travelers and Citibank a two-year waiver. In that two year period, Weill and company would either be forced to break up the mega-bank that had just been created—or repeal Glass-Steagall once and for all.
In the run-up to the Travelers-Citibank merger, Weill had conferred directly with Greenspan and other at the Fed, and had been assured that his efforts were totally in line with their own commitment to smash Glass-Steagall.
Weill launched a massive lobbying campaign, targeting Congress to repeal Glass-Steagall before the time ran out on the waiver. Citibank alone spent $100 million in lobbying the Congress, and other major Wall Street banks, led by JP Morgan, joined the effort.
In early 1999, both the House and the Senate introduced versions of financial reform legislation that would kill Glass-Steagall. All of the arguments, presented from the floor of the Congress, and in the backroom sessions with Wall Street lobbyists, armed with massive amounts of cash, came directly from the 1984 JP Morgan pamphlet. Greenspan had been an avid participant in the preparation of that document, and, as a Morgan director, had given his personal impremature. As Geisst told a PBS-TV Frontline interviewer several years ago, without Alan Greenspan and his role at the Fed, the repeal of Glass-Steagall would never have taken place in 1999.
The 1999 Gramm Leach Bliley Act was bought and paid for by Sandy Weill, JP Morgan, and the other big Wall Street looters. On the Hill, as the bill pushed through conference for a final vote on Nov. 4, 1999, it was commonly referred to as "the Citi-Travelers bill," or, even more personally, as "Sandy's bill."
- The Impeachment Factor -
Without Alan Greenspan's maneuverings at the Fed, Glass-Steagall could still be the law of the land today. Without the impeachment drive against President Bill Clinton, the Gramm Leach Bliley bill would have potentially gone down with the stroke of a Presidential veto pen.
It cannot be underestimated how much the impeachment of President Bill Clinton was tied to the defeat of Glass-Steagall. The targeting of Clinton was strategic, it came directly from London and London's Wall Street allies, and it had everything to do with the drive to repeal Glass-Steagall.
Beginning with the so-called Asia financial crisis of 1997, and extending through the Aug. 1998 Russian default on their GKO government bonds, triggering the near collapse of the Longterm Capital Management (LTCM) hedge fund, President Clinton, along with his Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, came to realize that the unregulated flows of shortterm capital, brought on by the wave of deregulation, that began in the mid-1970s, shortly after the abolishing of the Bretton Woods fixed exchange rate system, was reckless and destructive, and could bring about a systemic collapse. Rubin, as Treasury Secretary, also warned, sharply against the "moral hazard" of bailing out financial institutions that were "too big to fail." His famous diktat, "not one nickel to bail out the banks," resounded on Wall Street at the time.
In Jan. 1997, Lyndon LaRouche launched an international campaign for the convening of a New Bretton Woods conference, to reconstitute a global fixed exchange rate system, and to eliminate the very speculative capital flows that were about to gut the economies of such nation-states as Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Russia and Brazil, over the course of the next two years.
While it would be an exaggeration to say that Clinton and Rubin fully embraced LaRouche's plan for a return to FDR's Bretton Woods, there is no question that the impact of LaRouche's forecasts and his proposal for a revival of Roosevelt's anti-colonial policies of global economic development, were felt strongly within the Clinton inner circles.
Beginning in early 1998, Clinton and Rubin launched an international campaign to formulate a "new global financial architecture." A combination of G-7 advanced sector and G-15 emerging economy nations formed the G-22, to study alternatives to the current, unregulated global system. Representatives of the 22 nations met in Washington, D.C. in the Spring of 1998, and established a series of ongoing working groups, to come up with plans for a new, more regulated international financial system.

These moves by Clinton and Rubin stood in stark opposition to the Greenspan-JP Morgan-Sandy Weill drive to bust up the last vestiges of restrictive bank regulation in the U.S.A.
When, in Sept. 1998, President Clinton traveled to New York City, to deliver a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations, pressing for a "new global financial architecture" with far greater regulation and restriction of shortterm capital flows, all hell broke loose. Clinton was targeted for impeachment. Wall Street Democrats, led by Vice President Al Gore and Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Ct.), joined with Britain's Daily Telegraph propaganda mill, to press for Clinton's resignation. The House of Representatives voted a bill of impeachment.
The issue was never the Monica Lewinsky affair. The issue was President Clinton's publicly announced commitment to overhaul the global financial system, to the detriment of speculators.
And the punishment was swift. From the time that President Clinton delivered his statement of intent to overhaul the global financial architecture at the CFR in late September, to the time that the House of Representatives voted for his impeachment, took less than 90 days. The City of London's demands for Clinton's scalp over his threat to reregulate the global financial system—in cooperation with developing sector countries that had been viciously looted by speculators—was delivered.

There was never a serious question about the outcome of the impeachment trial of President Clinton in the U.S. Senate. The Democratic majority was never about to vote up the articles of impeachment, despite the Gore-Lieberman efforts to seize the Oval Office. On Feb. 12, 1999, the Senate acquitted Clinton.
But the die had already been cast, and the drive for the repeal of Glass-Steagall benefited enormously from the Clinton impeachment distraction, which killed off any efforts at the new global financial architecture. On May 12, 1999, Robert Rubin resigned as Treasury Secretary, effective July 1 of that year. His replacement, Larry Summers, was fanatically committed to "Sandy's law," repealing Glass-Steagall. On Nov. 4, 1999, both the House and the Senate passed the Glass-Steagall repeal. A broken and distracted President Clinton signed it into law days later.

June 18, 2010 As Lyndon LaRouche emphasized on Tuesday, "We're looking at a general breakdown crisis, of trans-Atlantic economies, during the period of the end of this month, the latter half of June, and the beginning of July. As of now, such a collapse would seem almost inevitable, first of all, because the circumstances exist, and the conditions are approaching rapidly which will mean that. Therefore, the question of preventing that collapse, by a change of policy, in the United States, in particular, before the end of June, and before the beginning of July, is the most urgent point of concern for anybody in the United States, or, generally, on the planet. Because, once the trans-Atlantic community goes under, once the United States and Europe cave in, and they're on the verge of a breakdown crisis right now. When that happens, and if that happens, then the rest of the world will go soon, and the result will be a plunge of the entire planet into a dark age. So, we're not in a period where we want to talk about September or November, we're talking about NOW....

"But we have to have Obama out, now. Because, as long as he remains, with the prospect of the breakup of the U.S. economy, and the European economies by either some time in June or in July, we can not fool around: We must get Obama out, now, in the way I said we have to get him out. And we have to make certain changes in policy such as immediately going to what? First, Glass-Steagall in the United Unites. It must be put through right now, and I mean the original intent of Glass-Steagall, as U.S. policy. That must be put into effect, immediately."

The decision of the German Constitutional Court yesterday to deny the temporary restraining order against the super-bailout of the Eurozone, underscores the need for the implementation of the Glass-Steagall Act now in the United States, which is necessary, as LaRouche has said, to give Germany and other countries, including Russia, the option of joining a Glass-Steagall type of fixed- exchange-rate system initiated by the United States.

The reorganization of the British banking system also announced yesterday by the new Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, under the topdown control of the Bank of England, was undoubtedly dictated by the awareness of the British oligarchy of the imminent collapse of the system, and the oligarchy's desire to maintain control of that collapse process.

For us that means that our responsibility to remove Obama from office and to reinstate Glass-Steagall immediately — not after the collapse, but before the collapse, in order to prevent it — must be fully embraced and achieved now.

The potential to remove Obama from office has never been greater.

* On Wednesday, Judicial Watch called for the Office of the Special Counsel to investigate Emanuel and Messina for violation of the Hatch Act, thus backing up the referral by Rep. Issa to the Office of the Special Counsel to that effect on June 8;

* On June 11, Friday of last week, all seven Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee sent a second letter to Eric Holder demanding a special prosecutor in the Sestak and Romanoff cases. The first letter had been sent on May 26, before the White House issued its Sestak memorandum and before Romanoff released the Messina e-mail;

* On June 11, Colorado Senator Michael Bennet admitted publicly that he knew beforehand, from his contact in the Obama Adminstration, that a job offer was going to be made to Romanoff, which makes him an accessory to a crime committed to his benefit. Also, Colorado Governor Bill Ridder admitted on June 14 that he had been in contact with the then chief of personnel in the White House, Donald Gibbs, about obtaining an international job for Romanoff to dissuade him from running against Bennet, whom he had appointed to replace Salazar; and

* On June 15, testimony was presented in the Blagojevich trial in Chicago by Joseph Aramanda, an associate of Tony Rezko, that after picking up a $125,000 kickback check, he was instructed by Rezko to make a $10,000 contribution to Barack Obama's U.S. Senate campaign.

These developments are just the tip of the iceberg and reflect the potential to oust Obama in the immediate period ahead.

The Blagojevich trial in Chicago has all the potential in the world to blow up in Obama's face. On June 6, Lyndon LaRouche had asked: "What has been done with Obama's buddy Rezko, who has been convicted but not sentenced? Is Blagojevich a patsy for the benefit of the President? Why was Rezko never sentenced, or was he sentenced secretly?"

In fact, Rezko is not the only prosecution witness or potential witness who has been convicted but not sentenced. As stressed in a motion filed by Blagojevich in April, there are nine prosecution witnesses who have been convicted, but not sentenced. Blagojevich had asked that their testimony be precluded on the grounds that the government was using the promise and/or hope of freedom as an inducement to obtain testimony by these witnesses, which he said is nothing short of bribery.

As Lyn stressed on Tuesday, the key flank that we have to bring down Obama, who is overripe for a fall, is the exposure of Barney Frank and his role as point man now in the effort to prevent the reinstatement of Glass-Steagall, which was effectively repealed beginning in the 1980s through the treasonous actions of Greenspan, JP Morgan, et al.

We are already in the second half of June. Through the LPAC video operation, the three candidacies of Rachel Brown, Kesha Rogers and Summer Shields, combined with an expanded outreach throughout the country to pass the Glass Steagall resolution, we can and must create a firestorm in this country now to remove Obama from office and reinstate Glass Steagall.

June 17, 2010 (LPAC)-- The British Empire would desperately like to rewrite the outcome of the historic 1971 debate between Lyndon LaRouche and their toady economist Abba Lerner. You will recall that LaRouche destroyed Lerner by forcing him to explode in public that, if the fascist policies of London's Nazi-banker Hjalmar Schacht had only been adopted willingly by Germany, "Hitler would not have been necessary."
Almost 40 years later, London has deployed one of its current toadies, EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, to threaten the nations of Europe — and implicitly the whole world — with the same message: If you don't implement fascist austerity yourselves, we will be forced to implement fascism. You have no choice.

Barroso delivered the threat at a June 11 meeting with trade union leaders from across Europe, as the entire Eurozone banking system is visibly imploding, exactly as Lyndon LaRouche has warned would be the case with a June-July global financial meltdown. According to John Monks, the head of the European Trade Union Confederation, Barroso told them that Spain, Portugal, Greece, and other nations had to go all the way: "Look, if they do not carry out these austerity packages, these countries could virtually disappear in the way that we know them as democracies. They've got no choice; this is it." Monks added that Barroso's "apocalyptic vision" meant that "we're heading back to the 1930s, with the Great Depression and we ended up with militarist dictatorship."

Lyndon LaRouche responded that people uttering this kind of nonsense are either stupid or lying, and in either case, should be excluded from all policy making.

"This is crap. There is a choice. All you have to do is get rid of the phony debt. Cancel it altogether! Then you go back to a standard, regulated banking system, as established under Franklin Roosevelt and his 1933 Glass-Steagall legislation. Just cancel the phony debt, or put it in a place where it can die peacefully. Get rid of financial derivatives. We don't have to pay the debts we don't owe."
And those who are preventing an immediate return to a Glass-Steagall standard today should simply be removed from office — starting with President Obama and Rep. Bailout Barney Frank.
Barney's political days are numbered, now that LPAC-TV will release the real story of how Glass-Steagall was finally revoked in 1999. The operation was first orchestrated by the British out of their JP Morgan financial house, which in 1984 issued an internal pamphlet calling for "Rethinking Glass-Steagall." None other than swindler Alan Greenspan was a JP Morgan director at the time. Greenspan later went on to head the Federal Reserve system from 1987 to 2006, where he oversaw the formal repeal of Glass-Steagall, as well as the general destruction of the U.S. economy.
Today, Bailout Barney has been assigned the task of riding shotgun for London, to try to make sure that Glass-Steagall is never reinstated. But there is a growing clamor across the country for the adoption of Lyndon LaRouche's Glass-Steagall resolution, as spearheaded by the Brown, Rogers, and Shields campaigns.

The President Shows He's a Liar--For the Queen | LaRouchePAC

June 15, 2010 (LPAC)—President Obama's consistent lying on the case of BP's criminality in the Gulf, is nothing less than his service to his friend, the British Queen. At this point, it's not worth blaming BP; they're a known criminal entity. The blame belongs with the Queen, who heads the imperial enterprise of which BP is a part, and with the Queen's puppet, Barack Obama, stated Lyndon LaRouche today.

There will be no solution until Obama is removed from his current position.

Two elements of the President's lying behavior, exposed in an article called "The Spill, The Scandal, and the President" in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, illustrate the case.

* First, there's the NOAA Story. As shown in a picture of a NOAA White Board in the NOAA "war room" in Seattle, Washington April 22, two days after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's best scientific estimate at that time was that the spill would be spewing 64,000 to 110,000 barrels per day. Yet, the Obama Administration succeeded in suppressing these figures, in favor of BP's own absurd declarations that 1,000 bpd, and then 5,000 bpd were spewing from the well. Only now, is the figure inching up toward the lower limit of the NOAA projection—to 55,000 bpd—when the cover-up is no longer possible.

* Second, there's the cover-up for BP, evident in the so-called Oil Spill Response Plan which is submitted prior to getting its license for the Deepwater Horizon facility, in April of 2009 (note—Obama was in office). This Plan was not simply a lie about BP's capabilities of handling a crisis, as we've exposed before; it's literally a joke. The 582-page "plan" includes provisions for protecting walruses, sea otters and sea lions! The Obama Administration obviously didn't even read it.

June 10, 2010 (LPAC)—"There is no question that the continuation of this problem in the Gulf, is expressly the warfare-like intention of the British Empire against the United States," charged Lyndon LaRouche on June 8. LaRouche was referring to the utter failure of British Petroleum to deal seriously with the consequences of its own murderous negligence in the case of the Deepwater Horizon drilling station—including its ongoing lies about the size of the leakage, as well as its failure to mobilize anywhere near the resources required to mitigate the damage.

The British are effectively carrying out warfare against the United States, LaRouche said. In addition, "the President is a complicit traitor to the United States in this war."
Obama's traitorous behavior is demonstrated, first and foremost, by the fact that he has left the handling of the crisis in the hands of the British imperial company, refusing to exercise the sovereign powers of the United States government to expropriate them, and to take over the operations to save the United States population from further devastation of their livelihood.

Thus, by his failure to act, Obama has left the British criminal in charge of the crime scene, and subjected the American people to more destruction. Like the British agent he is, the President refuses to defend the United States against British depradations.
"Remember, BP is the personal asset of the British monarchy," LaRouche added. "It's an imperial, Anglo-Dutch imperial entity." It is carrying out "a sabotage operation against the economy and people of the United States."
The conclusion is clear: "This President must go, and must go now! He's unfit to be President, and those in elected office who support him, are not fit to be members of our government. They should git 'n scat, right now!"

Russian Conference on Afghanistan Drug Production Opens LaRouchePAC

June 10, 2010 (LPAC) — The two-day International Forum on Drug Production in Afghanistan: A Challenge to the International Community, opened in Moscow on Wednesday. As chairman of the Organizing Committee and one of the keynote speakers, Federal Narcotics Control Service chief Victor Ivanov brought out the strategic dimension of the Afghanistan drug boom, recounting not only the impact of drug consumption on the population, but the drug-money financing of terrorism worldwide. Russia's North Caucasus and the Uighur-populated regions of China are especially affected areas, Ivanov said.

U.S. economist Lyndon LaRouche's greeting and memorandum to the conference was published in the June 11 issue of EIR Online last night, and has now been released in Russian translation, as well, for circulation among conference participants. In the memo, LaRouche explained that an end to the Afghanistan drug plague, and the British perpetual imperial war strategy of which it is a part, depends on nations making a decisive break with thousands of years of imperial monetarist practice, and the past 250 years of British imperial domination, in particular.
Indeed, Russian patriotic forces who have rallied to the fight against the heroin onslaught, which is killing 30,000 Russians annually, are impelled towards being anti-British, but crucial aspects of Russian policy remain trapped in City of London schemes.
Besides Ivanov, other high-ranking Russian officials to address the Forum were President Dmitri Medvedev, Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov, and Russian Ambassador to NATO Dmitri Rogozin. Medvedev called the "globalization of criminal flows" of drugs a danger to the whole world, also citing its role as a funding source for terrorism. Lavrov presented the Russian policy he laid out in testimony before the State Duma several weeks ago, saying that Afghan narcotics should be declared a threat to international peace and security. "We consider it absolutely necessary," Lavrov added, "to include in the mandate of the international security forces in Afghanistan, the duty to fight the drug business more effectively, including by destroying opium poppy plantings and heroin laboratories."
Among the international speakers were Antonio Maria Costa, executive director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and Chairman of the UN International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) Hamid Ghodse. Former UNODC head Pino Arlacchi, a renowned expert on organized crime and drug trafficking, told RIA Novosti that Russia and Europe are suffering the most from Afghan heroin and should cooperate on a "plan aimed at halting opium poppy cultivation in Afghanistan, including not only crop eradication, but also creating a special program, giving Afghan people living sources, different from producing narcotics." Arlacchi said he agreed with Victor Ivanov on this, adding that "Russia is not only a vital power in maintaining world stability and international dialogue, but it can play a leading role together with Europe in implementing change in Afghanistan.... Such a shift should have been done 10 years ago, specifically, halting drug production in the country."
Alexander Rahr of the German Council on Foreign Relations, which hosted Ivanov at a conference in Potsdam and Berlin earlier this week, is another participant from Europe. According to on-the-scene reports, the highest ranking American at the Forum is an acting deputy director for supply reduction from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Russian press played up a Novosti interview with U.S. Ambassador John Beyrle, who once again tried to justify not destroying the opium crops. Rogozin attacked this position during his speech, saying it made an "illogical" contrast with successful U.S. eradication efforts in Colombia.
RIA Novosti, host of the event, issued an overview wire about the first day, saying that participants were in agreement that "NATO's refusal to destroy opium poppy plantings in Afghanistan ... is blocking the process of combating the threat from Afghan narcotics, which are killing hundreds of thousands of people and helping to finance world terrorism."

OUR EDITORIAL POLICY

Considering the relevant, stubbornly recurring patterns of evidence accumulated since the Obama Presidency’s monstrous, Hitler-like health-care scheme was prominently reported in April 2009.

It should be our present conclusion, now, that, over the course of the interval since his January 2009 inauguration as U.S. President, it has now been shown by President Barack Obama’s behavior, that the effect of his variously enacted and actually established policies, is, as a matter of fact, more and more, that of an agent of a British empire working to destroy our United States, as his behavior in the matter of the scandalous case of British Petroleum illustrates the point.

That is to say, that the effect of his practice upon the lives and welfare of our people, has been: that a pattern has been shown, chiefly, by economic policies whose expressed intent has been like a housewife’s dosing an unwanted husband’s still-living body with a slow accumulation of arsenic. In this case, Obama’s, the action is treasonous in a matter of a willfully induced effect.

In this case, the only reasonable conclusion must be, that his poisonous dosages of his victim, our U.S.A., are rather large, and that the effect has become the evidence that the intention of President Obama’s policy of practice in this matter has been to rapidly ruin our United States of America’s sovereign independence, that for the pleasure of the present, imperial British monarchy.

Such is that incumbent President’s monstrous policy, a policy being continued currently by means of actions which are currently reducing our republic, step by step, to a captive piece of shattered wreckage, through measures including the following three categories:

a.) By usurious and related policies of induced ruin of both our nation’s sovereignty and general welfare;

b.) By use of included means of implicitly treasonous policies which are shown to have been launched as a matter of concerted action by the British Empire under Queen Elizabeth II;

and

c.) By the complicity of that monarchy’s reign’s current puppet-in-fact, a more and more “Emperor Nero-like,” U.S. President Barack Obama.

Thus, the Obama Presidency’s challenge to the proper conscience of all of the fully witting patriots of our own republic, is one which goes far beyond what might be considered as merely sufficient grounds for “impeachment-in-fact” of a certain, errant incumbent of the U.S. Presidency: President Barack Obama.

Obama’s continued holding of that office, including his ruinous influence over the institutions of the Federal Government in general, has now shown us a pattern of his behavior which, in credible, practical effect, constitutes an immediate threat to the continued existence of our sovereign constitutional republic, and also to the general welfare of the peoples of our planet as a whole.

It is to be emphasized, on this account, that as in Afghanistan, today, the present British Queen and President Barack Obama share the coloring of a declared commitment to the fully witting promotion of a mass-murderous production in support of an international traffic in illicit drugs. In fact of conspicuous practice, the Queen does push dope—globally!

Therefore, our own currently recommended policy must be, chiefly, the following remedial measures:

1.) WE MUST NOW PROMPTLY UN-ELECT AN IMPLICITLY TREASONOUS PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, FOR RUINING OUR NATION’S SOVEREIGNTY FOR THE BENEFIT OF A FOREIGN IMPERIAL POWER, THE BRITISH IMPERIAL MONARCHY.

2.) WE MUST ADOPT THE ENERGETIC PROPOSAL FOR A CERTAIN, CRUCIAL POSITIVE MEASURE: A FOUR-POWER, NEW, VIRTUALLY GLOBAL INITIATIVE, that by the initiative of no less than the U.S.A., Russia, China, India, and other willing sovereigns, thus initiating the relaunching of the world’s real economy on a global scale, through ending the reign-in-fact of the British Empire of Queen Elizabeth II over matters bearing on the vital, sovereign interests of both the U.S.A. and of other nations. That is a goal to be made achievable through establishing a global Glass-Steagall standard of a benefit shared among willing sovereign nations, a goal effected through the intended, relatively global establishment of a fixed-exchange-rate credit system whose benefits are to be shared among all willing nations who become party to such an agreement.

3.) WE MUST ESTABLISH AN ECONOMIC-DEVELOPMENT POLICY FOR OUR PLANET’S PEOPLES, one premised upon an included commitment to a science-driver program for mankind’s future, to be gained through aid of the realization of space-colonization goals.

An urgent lesson in economics!

I.THE ROOTS OF THE EVIL OF THAT BRITISH EMPIRE WHICH WE MUST ACT TO REMEDY ON THE BEHALF OF ALL NATIONS AND THEIR PEOPLES

It had been well said by the celebrated scholar George Santayana, that: “those who refuse to remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Unfortunately, although the name of “history” is still in the dictionaries, the practice of knowledge of actual history, as distinct from academically flavored anecdotes, has been virtually banned, increasingly, from our public memory, since the assassination of essential political truths by the so-called “Warren Commission.”

Santayana was correct.

There is a qualitative distinction between the parades of merely, “ostensibly academic” anecdotes which pass for “history” in most of academic and like places today, and, the contrary option, that of discovering the actual long-ranging dynamic of real history.

For example:

During approximately the Seventh Century B.C., the sovereign maritime powers of Egypt, the Etruscans, and the Ionian seafarers based in the western coast of Anatolia, had joined in a naval alliance for defense against the Mediterranean maritime forces centered in the city of Tyre. The relevant pattern of that maritime conflict in the Mediterranean region had not begun then; but, it expressed a pattern which is notable, still today, as being continued through the time of what were called the Punic Wars, and beyond.

The imperial maritime power of Tyre itself, had been broken, later, through the leadership of Alexander the Great in bringing about the process of destruction of what is commonly referred to as the Persian Empire of that time. This latter accomplishment had occurred during a time that an Athens-centered alliance of the sea peoples known popularly today as “the ancient Greeks” had, previously, defeated the maritime forces of the Persian empire, but, had, themselves, then fallen prey to the folly of the imperialist schemes of fratricidal warfare which had been arranged for them as that perennially evil, monetarist, Delphi Apollo cult’s orchestration of the Peloponnesian War.

In modern times, the British Empire, which followed the model of the Delphi Apollo cult’s orchestration of the Peloponnesian War in such matters as this, has also gained and maintained its imperial power, similarly, beginning with that pattern known as that Eighteenth-century “Seven Years War” which has been since repeated, again, in the British orchestration of the Napoleonic wars, and, again, of all other major warfare in the trans-Atlantic world, including two so-called “world wars,” the prolonged “cold war” of 1946-1989, the prolonged Indo-China war, and beyond, up to the present day in the British drug-trafficking center called Afghanistan.

In the real history of the world, Napoleon Bonaparte was a British agent in effect, whether he recognized that fact or not. Virtually all the major wars of the world since the so-called “Seven Years War,” such as the Napoleonic wars, were organized as wars by the British empire as implementations of the same methods expressed in the British luring of its intended victims of continental Europe into fighting silly wars which accomplished the effect of clearing the decks of the world for the establishment of the British empire of that time as an enterprise of a private company known as the British East India Company. This was the same British scheme which was the cause of the launching of the fight for freedom against the British East India Company and its traitorous accomplices among us, which led us fatefully to the necessity of fighting our War of Independence against a British empire which, in fact, remains the chief enemy of our own and many other nations still today.

Santayana’s warning was right again, and yet again, up through the royal British dope-pushers luring a foolish, British-controlled Obama government of the United States, into the lunacy of its war in a world opium capital called Afghanistan presently!

Similarly, from the time of the death of Macedon’s Alexander the Great, through the time of the agreement reached on the Isle of Capri between, on the one side, the party of the Octavian who would become known as Augustus Caesar and, on the other, the party of the priests of the Cult of Mithra, the established powers of the three maritime, religious powers of Rome, Egypt, and Mithra, dominating the Mediterranean, were assimilated into a form of the imposition of a greater power known as the Roman Empire.

Hence, from that time onward, until the victory of the United States in securing its freedom in fact from the tyranny of British Empire, at Yorktown, the imperial leading maritime power of the world, which had been formerly based in the Mediterranean, is to be recognized presently in the expression of a power which had passed, repeatedly, through a succession of particular expressions of a continuing, imperial maritime power which has been modeled on the monetarist policies of such as the representatives of the Delphi cult of Apollo.

Such was the case of the Roman Empire figure of the Plutarch who was the last triumphant imperialist priest of that Delphi Cult of Apollo which was a great political power within the ruling circles of the Roman empire itself. Such is the true past of the world’s only true, monetarist empire of today, as expressed in the so-called British Empire in both its associated British Commonwealth and its Wall Street, the Boston Vault, and Chicago arms.

In the same imperialist tradition, since the onset of the decline of the Second Roman Empire, also known as the Byzantine Empire, approximately 1000 A.D., then with the rise of the power of the usurious power which came to be formed around the creation of the City of Venice, until the victory at Yorktown: the trans-Atlantic world had been long dominated, for much more than a thousand years, by a succession of European imperial monetarist maritime powers modeled upon a succession of the Delphic system. The emergence of the British empire in the February 1763 Peace of Paris, is typical of that legacy.

Thus, what is happening world-wide at this present moment, is a now global breakdown-crisis of that British fag-end of what had emerged out of the Delphic legacy of the Peloponnesian War and ancient Roman imperialism, an imperialism which has emerged out of the continuity of more than 3,000 years of European history which, as I have just emphasized here, is a continuity expressed in such forms as the ancient Mediterranean-centered maritime imperialism of what had once been a triumphant imperial Rome. The last reigning relic of that imperial tradition today, is the presently disintegrating British model of what is continued, still today, as the ancient European monetarist form of maritime imperialist system.

Such is the key, to be found in history, for reaching a competent understanding of the roots of the present, terrible, global economic breakdown-crisis under way for civilization as a whole.

Contrary to popular history, it is not events which drive the processes of history; it is the processes of history which drive events.

II. THE DOOM OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE

What can be competently identified as “modern history” began within the opening decades of Europe’s Fifteenth Century. This continuing process of modern history’s principal, subsumed phases of development, which came to include Pacific and Indian Oceans cultures as already the European, is divided in respect to the principally controlling forces chiefly responsible for its successive phases of effects, as, approximately, among, first, the Fifteenth-Century European Renaissance; second, the Sixteenth-Century phase of the combined effects of the religious warfare of 1492-1648, and of the initial Habsburg-dominated colonization of post-Christopher Columbus Central and South America; third, the French- and English-speaking Seventeenth-and-Eighteenth-centuries development of the transformed quality of predominantly English-speaking European civilization which was planted in North America; and, fourth, that great existential, global conflict centered in the conflict which has been continued between the United States of America and the British Empire throughout the Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries—and now into the Twenty-First Century.

There had been, admittedly, relatively powerful earlier cultures in the trans-Pacific and related regions during ancient times preceding the consequences of the Fifteenth-Century rise of modern Europe out of the process leading into the Fifteenth-century founding of modern European development through the rate of increase of regional productive power, per capita and per square kilometer, which had left the continents of Africa and Asia behind until the time that the impact of the development of the cultural forces specific to the culture of European science and technology was being assimilated by other continents. This later breakthrough into the domain of the admittedly still limited, modern technological progress of Asia and Africa came as a by-product of the same initiative projected by Cardinal Nicholas of Cusa which launched the modern European discovery of and developments within the Americas.

This distinctive significance of the development of modern Europe since the impetus of the great ecumenical Council of Florence, is properly understood as an echo of the revolutionary changes under Charlemagne, and such later initiatives on which the launching of the European Fifteenth-century Renaissance would depend, as typified otherwise by the exemplary role of Dante Alighieri and his tradition.

Looking more deeply into the general history of mankind’s known civilizations, the pattern of once-rising and fallen civilizations and their cultures, has had the function of a testing of mankind’s capacity to purge itself of those cultural habits which had been the chief causes of great failures of entire civilizations which have, so to speak, “cleared the decks” of past history of failed experiments in culture and statecraft. The same logic poses the warning, that either we free European civilization of the disease represented by the present British empire, or European civilization is already plunging the planet as a whole into a great, genocidal catastrophe of numerous generations’ duration.

The British empire and its economic-policy and related influence, is, therefore, speaking scientifically, not a culture, but the political-cultural equivalent of an awesomely evil, venereal disease, which produces nothing as much as the foulest effects in morals and economy wherever its cultural infection spreads

So, Cato said: Carthage is to be destroyed!

The common distinction of those novel developments within this history which have emerged since the onset of Europe’s Fifteenth Century, has been, chiefly, the turn of the official language of administration of the western part of European society, away from the Latin which dominated the long reign of the western part of the Roman Empire and its medieval successors, and into the modern European reform of national language cultures, which was developed through the promotion of the literate development of popular languages, as through the initiatives of the refinement of, most notably Dante Alighieri, the reform launched in favor of what has been identified, in pejorative terms, as “the vulgate.”

This development of literate forms of popular languages, as by the initiative of Dante Alighieri, earlier, and Dante’s call for the introduction of the modern sovereign nation-state, in his series entitled De Monarchia, posed an issue which provided a setting for the later revolution, by Nicholas of Cusa, which was the launching of modern European science and modern, post-feudal forms of national economies. The great ecumenical Council of Florence consolidated these great advances which are to be usefully identified as the birth of modern trans-Atlantic Classical scientific and artistic culture. The concept of the modern sovereign nation-state republic was realized in Nicholas of Cusa’s Concordancia Catholica, while the principle of modern science was introduced to the world in Cusa’s later De Docta Ignorantia. All competent traces of modern physical science since A.D.1440 are traced from De Docta Ignorantia through such avowed followers of Cusa as Luca Pacioli, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Johannes Kepler who prompted the work of such as, most notably, Gottfried Leibniz and his successors through such celebrated figures as Abraham Kästner, Carl F. Gauss, Lejeune Dirichlet, and Bernhard Riemann.

This cultural revolution was not an uncontested set of changes. The Classical revolution signaled by the great ecumenical Council of Florence, was a contested advancement in the human social condition, an advance opposed with increasing force from a Venice which, now, once more, dominates the monetarist systems of the Mediterranean and beyond, as monetarism had ruled the economies of the Mediterranean world since prior to the emergence of a Classical Greek mode of maritime-based culture. The force of Venice which resisted the birth of modern science and also the impact of the great ecumenical Council of Florence and such figures of that Council as Nicholas of Cusa, had also sought to destroy both modern civilization’s Classical art, and science-oriented economy, a resistance, promoted by Venice, which came to be centered in the medieval relics of the legacy of the Habsburg imperial dynasty. The latter were the relics which have continued to dominate, recurrently, most of the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking regions of South and Central America, with what have been, speaking historically, relatively brief exceptions, since that time, up to the present date.

World civilization is now being tested; either we rid it of that venereal-like disease which is British reigning ideology and its spread, or entire nations and cultures of the planet will, once more, die now, as similar purges of similar forms of corruption have, in their own past times, reigned too long to be tolerated by the Creator. Do not blame God. That is not theology; that is living history, once more, today.

That was the warning of Aeschylus, especially in his Prometheus trilogy. Nations must use nuclear and thermonuclear fire, for example, or be doomed!

Santayana was right.

III.IN DEFENSE OF MANKIND

The universe itself is creative, or, as I read Albert Einstein’s comment on the great, unique act of genius known as Johannes Kepler’s unique discovery of the universal principle of gravitation, the universe is always finite, but never bounded.

The great Russian Academician V.I. Vernadsky’s central achievement is to be summarized as his contribution to the notion that all aspects of the universe are creative, which is to say anti-entropic, whether the lithosphere, the biosphere, or the noösphere, but, that, among all of these, only the human mind is actually, willfully creative.

As we see ourselves as Earthlings, we can not say that only what we might recognize as human beings are the only form in which our specifically human qualities of cognitive creativity, as in Classical art and science, are to be found in our relatively very large, as also finite universe. After all, the manner in which we imagine the form of that we see as ourselves in terms of “external” sense-perception, is not the actual form in which our personalities actually exist; but, we can be certain that the creative power which distinguishes us from all other kinds of known living beings, is in the likeness of the notion of a Creator, but excepting errant solipsists, since the principle of willful creativity exists manifestly in the known expressions of the universe, we can be content with the thought that if any different species of willfully creative beings exists “out there,” their intended role converges on that great principle which our given nature has assigned to us to play, if, and we might assume that, we are playing the role on behalf of the future which is intended for us by our very own given design.

One of the great misfortunes which European cultures have wreaked upon themselves, is our presently prolonged toleration of that essential form of evil which the great Aeschylus attributed to the nature of the servants of the evil Olympian Zeus of Aeschylus’ own Prometheus trilogy. Here, precisely, as in the figure of that Olympian Zeus, lies the essential evil of the household of Prince Philip’s British royal house, the truly satanic, Hitler-like evil also represented by figures such as Bertrand Russell and his followers. Here lies the essential principle of tragedy which permeates the known dramas of Aeschylus. That evil—the evil expressed by Prince Philip’s advocacy of the World Wildlife Fund, is the essence of the great sin against the Creator which the very existence of that House of Windsor represents in the world at large today. Embrace such policies, and the civilization which continued to do so today, will surely leave the company of all humanity, and that now soon, for reason of its being another manifestation of the great crime against the Creator which has doomed the satanic-like arrogance of regimes and cultures in the likeness of what Prince Philip represents, and also his associate, President Barack Obama, unless Obama either suddenly changes his ways, or is removed by the lawfully willful action of our citizenry.

The citizens of our United States will remove Obama from the Presidency, that he might enjoy a long life of cruel disgrace, now; but, we must admit, only if the citizens will now, thus enable themselves to free civilization at large from the great wave of destruction which Obama’s submission to his British imperial master would bring upon our world, and ourselves, now. For Obama himself, we must say: “Resign and report, now, or prepare yourself to enjoy a safely long and healthy life in the ever-loving embrace of infamy. That fate might seem like Hell to you, but, be assured, as Dante Alighieri might say, ‘it would be only just’.”

May 27, 2010 (LPAC)—On Wednesday, all 7 Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee — Jeff Sessions of Alabama, Orrin Hatch of Utah, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Jon Kyl of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, John Cornyn of Texas and Tom Coburn of Oklahoma — wrote a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder to "urge the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Congressman Joe Sestak's claim that a White House official offered him a job to induce him to exit the Pennsylvania Senate primary race against Senator Arlen Specter."
In the letter, the Republican Senators wrote that they "do not believe the Department of Justice can properly defer to White House lawyers to investigate a matter that could involve 'a serious breach of law.' The White House cannot possibly manage an internal investigation of potential criminal misconduct while simultaneously crafting a public narrative to rebut the claim that misconduct occurred."

The Senators argue that the Attorney General, by appointing a special prosecutor, "would avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest and square with the precedent of Attorney General Ashcroft's recusal from a White House-related investigation in 2003," referring to the appointment of "Patrick Fitzgerald to investigate suspected White House misconduct in the Plame matter."

The letter points out that at his confirmation hearing, Holder "pledged to be an independent Attorney General and explained: 'Though I am a part of the president's team, I am not a part of the president's team in the way that any other cabinet officer is. I have a special and unique responsibility. There has to be a distance between me and the president.'"

The Senators then urged Holder to reconsider the decision expressed in a letter to Congressman Darrell Issa by Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich, refusing to appoint a special prosecutor. "We hope you will reconsider this position. This controversy deserves full investigation, as well as public confirmation that steps are being taken to preserve records consistent with prior investigations of alleged White House wrongdoing. For example, in the fall of 2003, the Department of Justice and White House Counsel both confirmed that document preservation requests were sent to White House personnel relating to the leak of Valerie Plame's identity. Such actions should be taken in this case. Additionally, the Department should confirm that it is not deferring to internal White House lawyers to conduct a criminal probe of allegations raised by a sitting Congressman."

WHEREAS, the leadership of the U.S. Senate has sabotaged the inclusion of the Cantwell-McCain Glass-Steagall amendment into the so-called financial reform bill, thus leaving our banking system vulnerable to the ongoing blowout of the world financial system, as such is anticipated by the current freeze-up of bank lending, and the 1000 point "flash" drop in the U.S. stock market; and
WHEREAS, that same leadership, under pressure from the Obama Administration and Wall St., has similarly removed any significant enforcement mechanism from that "reform" bill in respect to the trading of derivatives, and has given every indication, as of May 24, that they intend to remove the Lincoln amendment which imposes restrictions on banks' trading in derivatives, from the bill entirely during Conference discussions with the House of Representatives; and
WHEREAS, the re-imposition of the Constitutional Glass-Steagall principle that separates commercial from speculative banking, and the shutdown of the hundreds of trillions dollar derivatives casino—both measures which have been strongly promoted and supported by leading economist Lyndon LaRouche—are the indispensable, and inseparable, first steps for saving the U.S. economy, and creating the basis for the launching of a real economic recovery program based on massive infrastructure projects;

May 17, 2010 (LPAC)—LPAC-TV has posted a new 13-minute video on the website, "LaRouche on the Record: Glass-Steagall or Die," which succinctly reviews Lyndon LaRouche's unique, leading role in the decisive battle to reimpose the Glass-Steagall standard in the U.S. and internationally. In its concluding section, it presents Lyn's call, delivered at his May 8 webcast, for an all-out mobilization to ram the policy through:
"Go with this Glass-Steagall reform, now! Push it through, ruthlessly... If we do it, we can win. The potential is there. But we have to do it. We have to insist that everybody goes and supports this. As far as we're concerned, every patriotic American will support this Glass-Steagall reform. If they don't do it, if they're not full-bent on doing it, then they're not really patriots. Because we need this strategically, to save the United States! We need this to save the world. The bastards—Obama's British masters—have delivered an explicit threat to the United States, that they consider Glass-Steagall an act of "hostility" against them. And Obama is, lawfully, set to fight against Glass-Steagall to the death. But Obama, Lyn elaborated in discussions yesterday, is now being swamped by a problem which even he is probably smart enough to realize has him boxed in. Things that were meant to work, and in the past have worked, are not working now. As a result, there is real desperation in their camp. The whole situation can backfire on them, because the usual methods just don't work anymore. And they are running out of time to produce results, as the Cantwell- McCain Glass-Steagall amendment moves towards a vote on the Senate floor, in the early part of this coming week.

Their problem is that the usual tactics of terrifying people into line, are now just getting people angry, and can produce a backfire effect—as (soon to be former) Sen. Bob Bennett of Utah can tell you all about. Normal things just don't work anymore. Just how successful that "not working" will be, Lyn said, remains to be seen. We will have to find out the hard way, by our focussed mobilization to ram through the Glass-Steagall bill.

The coming weeks will be critical—perhaps the most decisive that any of us have ever lived through. Volcker Goes Home to 'Mother,' Attacks Glass Steagall

May 15, 2010 (LPAC)—In the midst of the historic showdown between United States national interests and the City of London, who should show up in London on Thursday to be heard attacking Glass Steagall, but former Fed Reserve chairman Paul Volcker.

More was clearly discussed behind the scenes, but what was public was that Volcker championed his so-called "Volcker rule," asking banks to agree on good behavior in two speeches (including one in the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London's financial district); met privately with Bank of England head Mervyn King (who in a press conference just the day before had announced that the United States faces the same problem as Greece, for which the only solution, as for all other countries, is to cut its deficit), and attacked Glass-Steagall in an off-the-cuff interview with BBC.

BBC's Business Editor, Robert Preston, reports that Volcker told him "he is not advocating a return to Glass-Steagall, or a stipulation that retail banks should be wholly prohibited from engaging in investment banking, such as underwriting securities." Instead, he pressed his Volcker Rule, which, he made clear, is toothless, telling BBC that his "rule" simply means "that banks should use their capital only to serve the interests of their clients, rather than trading to generate speculative profits for their owners. He believes that if boards of banks are aware that's the spirit of a new law, they will impose significant restrictions on the activities of their executives."

Sen. Cantwell: Outcry by American People Needed to Pass Glass-Steagall LaRouchePAC

May 15, 2010 (LPAC)—PBS's "To The Contrary" program, hosted by Bonnie Erbe, began airing an interview with Glass Steagall co-sponsor Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), a show taped on May 12 clearly designed to build support for passing Glass-Steagall. The syndicated show will air nationally this weekend at different times, on 260 PBS stations.
The American people understand intuitively why we have to return to Glass Steagall, Sen. Cantwell argued, and the law has bipartisan support, but to ensure passage, "it may take the American people having an outcry, over the fact, that after all that's happened, some people here in Congress still don't get it. That that's the kind of safety and safeguards that we deserve."

After Erbe's interview of Cantwell (see below), a heated debate followed among Erbe and her four panelists. D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton defended Glass-Steagall, strongly, blaming the "worst recession of all time" on its repeal, with backing by Erbe, against the angry rejection by Genevieve Wood of the British Fabian Society's Heritage Foundation, of any return to Glass-Steagall.

A transcript of the interview follows:

Host ERBE: "The Democratic Senator proposes re-instating the Glass-Steagall Act, the Depression-era law, repealed a decade ago. That law set up a strict division between regular commercial banking and investment banking, so banks could not buy risky investments with depositors' money. This week I interviewed Senator Cantwell on what she thinks needs to be done to prevent future market meltdown."

CANTWELL: "Well, its pretty scary. The American people obviously don't want to have a roller coaster on Wall Street. We already know what happened in 2008, and that was scary enough for us. So, we want to get back to stable banking, and we want to get back to an investment market that has the right amount of oversight and transparency so that we know that regulators can find anybody who is manipulating the market, or doing something untowards, to create some sort of device that is putting them at an advantage. And so, that kind of functionality, we did away with in 2000. And we need to put the rules back into Wall Street."
ERBE: "What are those rules? Are you talking about Glass-Steagall, or something else?"

CANTWELL: "Well, I certainly am a big supporter of Glass-Steagall, which would be to go back to what we had prior to 2000, which is the separation of commercial banking from investment banking.

"If you think about it, they are two different functions. Investment banking is about taking risks. But with commercial banking, you want your deposits to be secure. But when you let your deposits—yours and mine—be used by those investment houses, which are huge, risk-taking ventures, it really does put those savings and those deposits at risk.

"And we should go back to separating them. I think the American people know this. They get it intuitively. They know that there was a reason in the last Depression that we got to this point.

"So, what's taking you so long! Go back to separating it. So we'll have a vote on that.

"But we also need to regulate these derivatives, these new financial tools that came into the marketplace in the late '90s, and make sure that they have the oversight of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission.
"Right now, hamburger in America—beef futures—has more oversight than some of these derivatives!"
ERBE: "How much support do you have for re-instating Glass-Steagall?"

CANTWELL: "Well, we'll find out. I would hope that we'd have a lot of bi-partisan support on both sides of the aisle, but this isn't really about being Democrat or Republican. If you— you know, if you think about it, this is about whether you're going to have the right system in place to protect Americans going forward. And while this was a big blow-up about derivatives, you know, these investment houses will continue to be creative. They"ll continue to be creative about how they take risk. But, you know, we want to keep the rest of the commercial banking community separate from that."
ERBE: "I mean, seriously, do think this will go through? A re-instatement of Glass-Steagall? Because we know that it became law, right after the Great Depression, and then the banking industry spent 70 years lobbying against it, and got it thrown out, or not renewed in Congress. And now that its back, you must be facing a mountain of opposition from financial institutions."
CANTWELL: "My personal impression, my personal views, are: it will be re-instated. But, I'll bet you, we'll end up with a two-step process. It may take the American people having an outcry, over the fact that after all that's happened, some people here in Congress still don't get it. That that's the kind of safety and safeguards that we deserve."

March 15, 2010 (LPAC)—The U.S. Senate adjourned before noon yesterday, Friday, after some desultory discussion of more minor amendments to Dodd's Financial Reform Act. It will reconvene at 2:00 on Monday, and resume debate on Financial Reform at 3:00. No votes will be taken until after 5:30 Monday.

Although the Cantwell-McCain amendment to restore Franklin Roosevelt's Glass-Steagall protections is still on the list of amendments to be considered, it was not one of the four amendments which Sen Dodd announced might be voted on on Monday,— so that strategically critical vote may be deferred until Tuesday, or even Wednesday.
At a Senate Democratic Caucus lunch on Thursday, called by Majority Leader Harry Reid, a number of angry Senators, including Byron Dorgan and Sheldon Whitehouse, threatened that they could join Republicans in blocking a cloture vote, if their amendments were not allowed to be presented for debate and a vote.

May 12, 2010 (LPAC)-- The documentary featured here was released in early 2008, just months after Lyndon LaRouche forecast the blowout of the financial derivative infested housing bubble, triggering the blowout of the entire U.S. financial system as a whole. That same week the blowout occurred.

Soon after, Lyndon LaRouche was the only person to demand the one thing that could solve the crisis: the Homeowner's and Bank Protection Act. May 11, 2010 (LPAC)—The result of the May 9 elections for new state parliament (Landtag) in North Rhine-Westphalia (N.R.W.), a smashing defeat for the "black-yellow" coalition government of Christian Democrats (CDU) and Free Democrats (FDP) (together 41.3%, after a net loss of 10.5% as compared to 2005), not only will hand the government to a "red-green" coalition of Social Democrats (SPD) and Greens (together 46.6%, after a net loss of 3% for the SPD, as compared to 2005) plus another partner, most likely the Linkspartei (5.6%). It will also have serious implications for the national CDU-FDP government coalition of Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU).

A direct implication is the loss of Merkel's majority in the Bundesrat—the upper chamber of Parliament, which represents states (Laender) directly—where N.R.W. holds six seats; and the Bundesrat has veto power over most legislation, which will add to the paralysis of the national government. An indirect implication is the effects which this vote of no-confidence against Merkel in N.R.W. will have during the coming days and weeks—especially in view of the deepening crisis of the euro system, related to the "Greek" banking crisis.

For the state of N.R.W., a government led by the SPD's Hannelore Kraft, who is said to have studied her economics at King's College in London in the 1980s, a government with the Greens in key positions, is a disaster for N.R.W. that will be felt very directly: the SPD and the Greens are against nuclear power development, against great projects in general, the Greens are even against coal mining, and the "red-green" fantasies about a highly costly "green industrial revolution" promoting solar and wind energy, is certain to scare off even more industries from this former, longtime industrial powerhouse, which fear they would be slapped with higher electricity bills they cannot afford. This means certain doom for many regions in N.R.W., which after 40 years of downsizing, outsourcing, and green political sabotage of pioneer technologies like the fast breeder reactor and the HTR, have already lost most of their steel production, machine-building and coal mining, and show unemployment rates visibly above 10-15%. With the Greens in whatever coalition scenario exists, this deindustrialization will intensify. Crucial traditional constituencies reacted with frustration in the May 9 elections, with high voter absenteeism, at almost 41%.

The only party that ran against the "greening" of the political establishment, the LaRouche Movement's BueSo (Buergerrechtsbewegung Solidaritaet), with a program for reindustrialization and the development of pioneer technologies like nuclear fusion and maglev transportation, got its best vote ever, with the average of its 34 district candidates receiving around 0.4 and 0.5%, and some even moving into the range of 0.7 and 0.8%. The BueSo reports a high recognition factor among voters and visibly increased interest in the party's program during the past two or three weeks, with particular interest also because the BueSo was the only party to address the reality of the global economic collapse and the urgency of having legislation for banking reorganization along the example of the U.S. Glass-Steagall Act. And voters welcomed that the BueSo called the Greek bailout what it is: a bailout of the banks at the expense of the taxpayers.

For the period after the election, this represents a spark of hope, especially as many voters were "pragmatic" and voted for the establishment parties, will soon be confronted with a brutal reality shock and realize that the politicians lied to them, the Greek bailout being one of the additional burdens to be piled onto taxpayers' backs.

March 9, 2010 (LPAC)-- It is not every day that spokesmen of the British Empire and its Rothschild-linked Inter-Alpha Group come out and openly broadcast their fear of defeat. But that is what the City of London's Financial Times" did, in an editorial which concludes: "Desperate times need desperate measures. The times are not over. Nor, therefore, are the measures."

They said this regarding their frenetic call to keep worthless liquidity spewing out of the world's central banks at hyperbolic rates. But it belies the far more profound issue, that their entire universe is crumbling around them, economically and politically.

First, their speculative bubble is disintegrating, willy-nilly. Second, Lyndon LaRouche exposed this bankruptcy and helped hasten their demise with his recent flanking attack on their "Santander Syndrome" and the related Brazil carry trade Ponzi scheme. Third, the American population is in the early stages of generalized revolt against everything they associate with incumbent policies and politicians—to wit, the Nazi Barack Obama and his Congressional lickspittles. And fourth, the LaRouche Youth Movement and LPAC are intersecting that rumbling mood of the times, to become its voice and conscience, as seen in the recent Kesha Rogers victory in Texas.

That victory is not only being widely reported inside the U.S. now, but has begun to spread abroad, including to Russian web sites. With LaRouche's webcast coming up this Saturday March 13 at 1 p.m., the next turn of the ratchet against the British Empire will be the central order of the day. Obama can, and must be removed from the White House in a matter of weeks.

No wonder the Financial Times fears these "desperate times."
Their universe may be crumbling, but ours, the real one, emphatically is not. As Lyndon LaRouche noted in a recent e-mail response to a questioner:

Abstract and executive summary
This study describes and analysis the Icesave dispute and Ice-save agreements between Iceland, the UK and Holland in the light of European law (EU and EEA law) focusing on two main issues relevant to the proper resolution of this dispute: 1) the State liability for breaches of EU/EEA law on the basis of Directive 94/19/EC following a systemic bank collapse in Iceland; and 2) the principle of non discrimination concerning the nationalisation of Icelandic banks (State aid) and the payment of the minimum guarantee of 20.889 € to depositors of Icesave accounts in the branches of Landsbanki in the UK and Holland. It will be argued how the European legal order has proved to be incomplete, fragmented and unable to cope with the legal problems arising from the Icesave dispute.

In the first place, the rules of State liability of EU/EEA law in this case are very unclear and uncertain. In the second place, it is questionable whether the Icelandic emergency measures violate EU/EEA law in the light of other national measures adopted by EU Member States during the crisis. In the third place, we will analyse how the real core of the dispute – the nationalisation of private debt left by the collapse of the Icelandic banking system in the UK and Holland and the measures adopted for the reconstruction of the financial sector in Iceland and based on the connection to Icelandic economy– might not fall under the scope of present EU/EEA law after all.

This study will argue that, while the Icesave dispute relates to a highly complicated problem created by the internal market of banking and financial services; the nationalisation of banking entities after a financial crisis is a new problem in EU law for which the EU Treaties and European jurisprudence have no legal answer so far. It will also explain how, from a legal point of view, this cross-border dispute is located at the outer limits of EU/EEA law, in grey areas that are very difficult to solve on a bilateral basis. If the EU has no competence over this new problem, the competence belongs to the Member States. The same applies in EEA law. In these circumstances, the principle of legality would mean that the application of the principles of State liability and non-discrimination in EU/EEA law do not come into play.

ICELAND PRESIDENT OLAFUR RAGNAR GRIMSSON

London, England (CNN) -- Iceland's president accused the United Kingdom and the Netherlands on Friday of financially "bullying" his country.

Olafur Ragnar Grimsson said the two countries had been "using their influence within the International Monetary Fund" to stop it lending Iceland billions of dollars needed to rebuild the country's debt-ridden economy.

"We are being bullied. The British and the Dutch are using their influence within the IMF to prevent the IMF program from going forward," Grimsson told CNN's Richard Quest.

"We have a situation, where a small nation is in fact ready to shoulder part of this burden but doesn't want to be put in a corner where the very survival of its economy in the next 10 years would be at stake."

The comments came after the UK expressed anger at the highly controversial decision by Iceland's president's to veto a bill that would pay back billions of dollars Iceland owes the UK and Netherlands. Britain was forced to spend $3.69 billion last year to cover the losses that British savers incurred when Icelandic banks collapsed.

The British and Dutch governments condemned the decision by President Grimsson and hinted at repercussions for Iceland's bid to join the European Union and for its $10bn international economic rescue program.
Despite being already approved by Iceland's parliament, Grimsson refused to sign the bill and called for a national referendum.
Grimsson told CNN: "May I remind that if you take the sum that the Icelandic taxpayers are asked to shoulder and you transform it in to the British economic system to get the relative size, this is equal to the British taxpayers being asked to pay £700 billion ($1.1 trillion) for the years and decades to come."
Icelandic Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir hinted that the move could further tarnish the country's image and crush its hopes to become a member of the European Union.
"Uncertainty... in the formal dealings with others countries can have unforeseen, wide-ranging and potentially damaging consequences for our society," she warned.

But Grimsson told CNN his move was in the name of democracy. He said he acted in response to the one-quarter of Icelanders who petitioned against the compensation bill that would cost about $17,300 per Icelandic citizen.

"We have forgotten that there are two pillars in the western heritage that we are proud of. One is the evolution of the free market but the second is the evolution of democracy," Grimsson told CNN.
"And what I did was when I was faced with a decision between the financial concerns on the one hand, and democracy on the other, I decided to go with democracy."
Grimsson's veto also reflects his country's anger with their treatment at British hands at the height of the economic crisis, when the UK employed anti-terror legislation to freeze Icelandic assets.
"They put my country, on the official Web site, the British government Web site, side by side with al Qaeda and the Taliban.
"And the second thing was that Gordon Brown in October and Alistair Darling went on global television, including CNN and stated that Iceland was a bankrupt country.
"Which was utter nonsense at its best and financial terrorism on their part at its worst." He added: "This meant that companies all over the world, who had had dealings with Iceland, closed their operations down."
As a result, said Grimsson, his economy was damaged by the British "to a greater extent than otherwise would have been the case."
In a statement on January 6, however, a spokesperson for the British prime minister said that "the Government expects the loan to be repaid.
"We are obviously very disappointed by the decision by the Icelandic President, but we do expect Iceland to live up to its legal obligations and repay the money."

Issa: AIG Investigation Just Getting Started

January 29, 2010 (LPAC)—Following Wednesday's hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform examining the government's role in bailing out AIG counterparties and hiding its details from the American public, Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) made public a document (Schedule A) that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) wanted kept confidential by the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) until 2018. This 5-page document is a list of approximately 400 worthless credit default swap deals that were paid at 100% of par at the insistence of Fed Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and New York Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Timothy Geithner.

Schedule A includes the names of all of AIG's counterparties, the identification numbers of each transaction, and the prices at which Maiden Lane 3 was purchasing the underlying assets. In the end, AIG's filings on December 2, 2008, and December 24, 2008, included the agreements between AIG and ML3 but omitted Schedule A. The Schedule A was finally submitted under pressure from the SEC, but was kept "in a special area at the SEC where national security related files are kept."
Issa also released a 22-page report: "Public Disclosure as a Last Resort: How the Federal Reserve Fought to Cover Up the Details of the AIG Counterparties Bailout from the American People."

In this second document, several emails further establish that Geithner lied under oath when he stated that he had recused himself from the AIG matter.

* On November 6, 2008, Sarah Dahlgren, the FRBNY's lead staff member in AIG's operations, emailed Geithner with a proposed statement regarding AIG's upcoming equity capital raise for Geithner's approval: "If you are good with this, ... we would also make sure that the company sticks to this line ...."

* On November 13, Geithner received a report on AIG's restructuring that would be sent to Congress, which Geithner had asked to personally review. Sophia Allison, a staff member of the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors, e-mailed the draft congressional report to several Federal Reserve staff. Michael Nelson, a staff member of the FRBNY, fowarded Allison's email to Geithner with the following message: "Tim — this is the draft EESA-required filing on AIG that the Board owes the Hill, as you requested."

* In addition, Geithner's meeting logs show that he had at least six formal meetings with the top FRBNY staff members about AIG-related issues between November 4, 2008, and November 21, 2008.

* Also, Geithner did not respond to a request from Issa for an interview before the hearing. He did, however, meet with Congressman Cummings together with Tom Baxter, General Counsel of the FRBNY, on Friday January 15, 2010, even though Baxter was scheduled to be a witness at the hearing as well. It is Baxter, who has claimed that Geithner had recused himself from AIG case.

In releasing these documents, Issa said: "It's not conjecture, its not speculation, it's fact, the New York Fed gave a back-door bailout to AIG's counterparties and then tried to cover it up. The veil of secrecy that swept through the Fed embraced a mentality that treated transparency as a dispensable luxury rather than a moral imperative."

Regarding Secretary Timothy Geithner's testimony addressing the NYFRB's efforts to limit public disclosure, Issa said, "If he didn't know, he should have and no one has answered the question as to why the New York Fed were so adamant at keeping details of the counterparty deal confidential. If he or anyone else thinks that this investigation will stop after today's hearing, they are completely mistaken. There has been a widespread effort by officials at the NY Fed to thwart transparency and working with the SIGTARP, we will continue to pursue this investigation for as long as it takes to get the truth. Unfortunate as it may be for those who acted deliberately to deceive the American people, there is no statute of limitations in our pursuit of transparency."

Geithner Lie on Recusal in AIG Case Exposed

January 29, 2010 (LPAC)—During his testimony at the hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform yesterday, Timothy Geithner lied that he had nothing to do with the New York Federal Reserve Bank decision to allow AIG to pay several banks, including Goldman Sachs, 100% of par on credit default swaps.

In the hearing, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) pressed Geithner to prove that he had recused himself from decisions with regard to AIG: "Can you provide for the record a copy of the recusal agreement that you signed when you were at the New York Fed?" Geithner answered: "I did not sign a recusal agreement. I withdrew from day-to-day management, operations, policies of the New York Fed, and my colleagues both in Washington and in New York can attest to that. This was very important to do."

However, during the same hearing, Neil M. Barofsky, Special Inspector General of the TARP bailout program, testified to the following in his statement to the committee: "On November 7th, 2008, FRBNY employees involved with the negotiations reported to then-FRBNY President Geithner on the efforts to convince AIG counterparties to accept haircuts on their claims against AIG in return for unwinding the CDS contracts. Noting both the willingness of UBS to negotiate a small haircut and the generally negative reactions from the other counterparties, these FRBNY offials recommended that FRBNY cease negotiations and proceed with paying the counterparties the market value of their underlying CDOs and permitting them to keep the collateral already posted, effectively paying them par for securities that collectively had a market value, based on the amount of the collateral payments of approximately 48 cents on the dollar. According to these FRBNY executives, then-President Geithner 'acquiesced' to the executives' proposal. When asked by SIGTARP if the executives felt they had received their 'marching orders from then-FRBNY President Geithner to pay the counterparties par, one FRBNY official responded 'yes, absolutely.' The decision to pay effective par value was then brought before the Board of Directors of the FRBNY and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. Each body gave its approval."

Moreover, at the end of the hearing, according to the Financial Times, a previously unpublished e-mail was disclosed: Written by 'TFG75' — Timothy Franz Geithner — to senior Fed officials, it asked: 'Where are you on the AIG counterparty disclosure issue?' The e-mail was written on March 15, 2009, the day on which the names of AIG's counterparties were released.

LaRouche: We are at War and the Enemy is the British Empire | LaRouchePAC

January 29, 2010 (LPAC)—As we approach Lyndon LaRouche's international webcast tomorrow, Saturday, January 30, 2010, the mass strike in the U.S. whose leadership is Lyndon LaRouche, is zeroing in on the center of British monetarism in the U.S.—Wall Street and the Federal Reserve system. Even the "go along to get along"-controlled U.S. Senate was driven by this mass strike to cast 30 votes against the reconfirmation of "Bailout" Ben Bernanke, the most votes ever cast against a nominee for chairman of the British-controlled Federal Reserve.
While Bernanke was reconfirmed yesterday, the drive to nail both Geithner and Bernanke is now escalating. As Lyndon LaRouche said today, "It's not going to go away. This is the end of some people, the end of some people's careers."

In the case of Geithner, he could be facing perjury charges. During sworn testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday, he admitted that he did not sign an agreement recusing himself from the AIG matter. Nonetheless, he claimed: "I withdrew from day-to-day management, operations, policies of the New York Fed, and my colleagues both in Washington and in New York can attest to that." Unfortunately for Geithner, Neil Barofsky, Special Inspector General of TARP, who also testified at the hearing, contradicted Geithner on this matter, and reported that FRBNY executives have stated to his office that they met with Geithner on the AIG credit default swaps deal, and that Geithner "acquiesced" to their proposal to pay the AIG credit default swaps at 100%. When asked by Barofsky's office if the executives felt they had received their "marching orders" from Geithner to pay the counterparties par, one FRBNY official responded, "Yes, absolutely."
On Monday, the ranking members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, led by Rep. Issa, released a 22-page report entitled: "How the Federal Reserve Fought to Cover up the Details of the AIG Counterparties Bailout from the American People." The report releases a number of e-mails from FRBNY officials which prove that Geithner was deeply involved in the policy decision. His meeting log also shows that he conducted six formal meetings on AIG in November 2008 with staff.

But it is not only Geithner who is in trouble. On Tuesday, Rep. Issa sent a letter to Committee Chair Edolphus Towns urging him to issue a new subpoena in the AIG case, this time to the Federal Reserve. Issa points out that new information has come to light about documents in the possession of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors regarding the Federal Reserve's decision to bail out AIG in September of 2008. Issa points out that his office has received important information from a whistleblower who has identified specific documents which detail Bernanke's personal involvement in the decision to pay AIG credit default swaps at 100%.

So even as Bernanke was reconfirmed as Fed Chair, he is about as secure in his office as Nixon was after the 1972 elections.
After the hearings on Wednesday, Rep. Issa released a statement in which he said of Geithner: "If he or anyone else thinks that this investigation will stop after today's hearing, they are completely mistaken."

Issa also released a 5-page document, the "Schedule A" which AIG filed with the SEC, detailing all of the credit default swaps paid by AIG to Goldman Sachs, etc. The FRBNY had tried to prevent this information from being filed. When it was finally filed, the SEC was supposed to seal it until the year 2018 and keep it in a location designated for national security items. But now it has been released publicly in unredacted form.

At the same time, there are increasing indications, as Lyndon LaRouche said today, that some people who want to stay in public life, recognize that this is the obvious time to jump ship. Democrats are jumping ship to get on the Republican payroll.

A case in point is a deal struck on Wednesday between the Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Cal) and Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Tx.) to launch an investigation of the corrupt deal made by the Obama White House with the pharmaceutical companies, the hospitals, and the doctors, at the point that the drive for Obama deathcare was being launched. Waxman, one of three House committee chairmen responsible for shepherding the House version of Obama deathcare through the House, agreed to help Republicans get a comprehensive list of meetings the White House held with industry representatives, as well as records documenting calls and emails between outside groups and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Meanwhile, as Lyndon LaRouche has emphasized, Britain's puppet in the White House, Obama himself, is nearing the end of his Neronic career. Instead of listening to the mass strike process, in his State of the Union speech Obama proved himself, as LaRouche has stated, constitutionally in incapable of change. He insisted, instead, upon continuing to push his Nazi death bill and fascist "green energy" policy.

Even the Wall Street Journal lead editorial caught the flavor of Obama's tendency toward political suicide, comparing Obama to Willy Loman in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman. As the Journal wrote: "On health care, Mr. Obama offered a Willy Loman-esque soliloquy on his year-long effort, as if his bill's underlying virtues and his own hard work haven't been truly appreciated by the American public."

As the suppression of the article by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard exposing the intention of the British Empire to eliminate national sovereignty, demonstrates, the war we are engaged in is for the sovereign capacity of nation states, acting in concert to develop their respective peoples against a monetarist British Empire intent upon killing those same people. Evans-Pritchard compares the British-controlled EU beauracracy to the ultramontane medieval papacy with its jesuitical lawyers. It was against this ultramontane imperialist system that Nicolaus Cusa in 1433 wrote that the emperor "derives his power from the people." This is the principle which the British Empire and their puppet Obama are denying at their own peril.

Geithner will have to go. But in fact, the decisions he is lying about came not from him, but from the White House under two successive Presidencies. But indeed, in reality, those decisions were not made by either one of those Presidents, either. Obama is nothing but a puppet. They were made behind the scenes.

History is not a series of events, not a ping-pong game, it's a process. And that is what economists and politicians today don't understand. Think back to the Fall of 2008. Then, when all the other top leaders were repeating in unison that this bail-out must go through, it was only Lyndon LaRouche who provided a rallying point against it. ECB prepares legal grounds for euro rupture as Greece festers

Fears of a euro breakup have reached the point where the European Central Bank feels compelled to issue a legal analysis of what would happen if a country tried to leave monetary union.
"Recent developments have, perhaps, increased the risk of secession (however modestly), as well as the urgency of addressing it as a possible scenario," said the document, entitled "Withdrawal and Expulsion from the EU and EMU: Some Reflections."
The author makes a string of vaulting, Jesuitical, and mischievous claims, as EU lawyers often do. Half a century of ever-closer union has created a "new legal order" that transcends a "largely obsolete concept of sovereignty" and imposes a "permanent limitation" on the states' rights.

Those who suspect that the European Court has the power pretensions of the medieval papacy will find plenty to validate their fears in this astonishing text.
Crucially, the author argues that eurozone exit entails expulsion from the European Union as well. All EU members must take part in EMU (except Britain and Denmark, with opt-outs).
This is a warning shot for Greece, Portugal, Ireland, and Spain. If they fail to marshal public support for draconian austerity, they risk being cast into Icelandic oblivion. Or for Greece, back into the clammy embrace of Asia Minor.
ECB chief Jean-Claude Trichet upped the ante, warning that the bank would not bend its collateral rules to support Greek debt. "No state can expect any special treatment," he said. He might as well daub a death's cross on the door of Greece's debt management office.
This euro-brinkmanship must be unnerving for the Hellenic Socialists (PASOK). Last week's E1.6 billion (L1.4 billion) auction of Greek debt did not go well. The interest rate on six-month notes rose to 1.38 percent, compared to 0.59 percent a month ago. The yield on 10-year bonds has touched 6 percent, the spreads ballooning to 270 basis points above German Bunds.

Greece cannot afford such a premium for long. The country must raise E54 billion this year -- front-loaded in the first half. Unless the spreads fall sharply, the deficit cannot be cut from 12.7 percent of GDP to 3 percent within three years. As Moody's put it, Greece (and Portugal) face the risk of "slow death" from rising interest costs.
Stephen Jen from BlueGold Capital said the design flaws of monetary union are becoming clearer. "I don't believe Euroland will break up. Too much political capital has been spent in the past half century for Euroland to allow an outright breakage. However, severe 'stress-fractures' are quite likely in the years ahead."
As Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, and Spain (PIIGS) slide into deflation, their "real" interest rates will rise even higher. "It is tantamount to hiking rates in the already weak PIIGS," he said. This is the crux. ECB policy will become "pro-cyclical," too tight for the South, too loose for the North.
The City view is that the North-South split may cause trouble but that there will always be a bailout to prevent a domino effect. "If a rescue turns out to be necessary, a rescue will be mounted," said Marco Annunziata from Unicredit.
It comes down to a bet that Berlin will do for Club Med what it did for East Germany: subsidise forever. It is a judgment on whether EMU is the binding coin of sacred solidarity or just a fixed exchange rate system like others before it.
Politics will decide, and in Greece it is already proving messy as teams of "inspectors" ruffle feathers. The Orthodox LAOS party is not happy that an EU crew dared to demand an accounting from the colonels. "The Ministry of Defence is sacrosanct," it said.
Greece alone in Western Europe treats the military budget as a state secret. Rating agencies guess it is a ruinous 5 percent of GDP. Does the country really need 1,700 battle tanks, 420 combat jets, and eight submarines? To fight NATO ally Turkey? Merely to pose the question is to enter dangerous waters.
Who knows what the IMF surveillance team made of their mission in Athens. The fund's formula for boom-bust countries that squander their competitiveness is to retrench and devalue. But devaluation is ruled out. Greece must take the pain, without the cure.
The policy is conceptually foolish and arguably cynical. It is to bleed a society in order to uphold the ideology of the European Project. Greece's national debt will be 120 percent of GDP this year. S&P says it will reach 138 percent by 2012. A fiscal squeeze -- without any offsetting monetary or exchange stimulus -- will cause tax revenues to collapse. Debt will rise higher on a shrinking economic base.

Even if Greece can cut wages without setting off mass protest, it lacks the open economy and export sector that may yet save Ireland in similar circumstances. Greece is caught in a textbook deflation trap.
Labour minister Andreas Loverdos says unemployment would reach a million this year -- or 22 percent, equal to 30 million in the US. He broadcast the fact with a hint of menace, as if he wanted Europe to squirm. Two can play brinkmanship.

Iceland may be the first Western democracy to be forced into South-American style debt-slavery. The IMF, in concert with the UK and the Netherlands, has attempted to strongarm the recently impoverished Island of 317,000 into paying over 3.6 billion pounds ($6.3bn) -- $86,000 per Icelandic family -- at 5.5% interest for the next generation. The money is not conventional government debt, but arises from the collapse of a private multi-national bank during the financial crisis.

The issue is so serious that the entire nation will vote on the issue towards the end of February 2010.

On December 30, 2009, after extraordinary diplomatic threats, Iceland's parliament passed narrowly a bill agreeing to pay the onerous terms. Only a few months earlier parliament had agreed to the full amount, but under more reasonable conditions.
The people of Iceland must be internationally supported, so they can feel safe in voting down debt-slavery. If Iceland falls, it won't be long before other countries suffer similar financial extortion.

Iceland President Stands by His People

January 8, 2010 (LPAC)-- Despite the hostility of the governments of Great Britain and the Netherlands, which have threatened to kick Iceland out of the "international community," Iceland President Olaf Ragnar Grimsson is standing by his decision, and defending, in interviews and statements, the right of his people to national sovereignty. In the Financial Times today, he is quoted as saying, "The Icelandic constitution is based on the fundamental principle that the people have sovereignty. It is the responsibility of the President to make sure that the will of the people will prevail."

He then called on the peoples of Britain and Netherlands ("and their political leaders") to stand "with the longstanding democratic traditions of Britain and the Netherlands, acknowledging that a referendum is a democratic way of making a decision," Grimsson was also interviewed in Swedish radio.

In an interview with BBC on Wednesday evening, Grimsson was verbally assaulted by the host, who looked like an attorney for Shylock and treated the President of a state like a felon. "Don't trust an Icelander," "Aren't international agreements more important than a President's will?" and "Are you happy with these results?" (downrating, loss of international credit, etc.) were the interviewer's questions and remarks. Grimsson taught the arrogant fellow a lesson, telling him, "I understand that Britain is not familiar with systems where the people is called to express its will " and that in Iceland, "not the parliament, but the nation is sovereign."

In contrast to the oligarchy, the British people continue to express their sympathy for Icelanders, at least judging from readers' comments continuing to flow in to major dailies (see below). It is probably due to this that a faction of the British establishment, represented by the Financial Times, has taken a distance from the government and openly rejected the "hard-line" approach towards Iceland. Significantly, an FT editorial today is entitled "Do Not Put Iceland in a Debtors' Prison." The FT also chose to publish a letter by Advocacy International, saying that it is "unjust" to make Iceland take sole responsibility for the "reckless behavior of private bankers and risk-takers."

The FT ran as a blowup quote, the view of its chief financial commentator, Martin Wolf: "This is not about cutting a running deficit, which is, indeed, unavoidable. It is about forcing innocent people to assume gigantic liabilities for which they have no legal or moral responsibility. How would U.K. citizens feel if they were forced to assume a debt of ￡400 billion because of HSBC's failure to meet deposit insurance liabilities in Asia? Let the U.K. take the bank's assets and leave it at that."

Also, Michael Hudson from the University of Missouri writes that "Iceland has the right to refuse debt servitude." Hudson argues that Iceland could pay foreign debt only out of balance-of-payments receipts, i.e. through export revenues. But already fish export revenues have been entirely earmarked to service existing debt; the same goes for aluminum exports and its geothermal and hydroelectric resources. Add to this the fact that most families have mortgages which, if the currency is depreciated, can only get worse, and you have the picture: It is impossible for Iceland to pay the debt. "A pragmatic economic principle is at work in such conditions. Debts that cannot be paid, will not." If we have learned the lessons of the collapse of living standards in post-Soviet Russia, he ends by asking, "by how many years must Icelandic lifespans shorten?"

According to a European banking source, the British and the Dutch are going to dump the burden on Scandinavian countries. On their side, the resistance organization in Iceland is calling on the Scandinavian governments to support them against the London and The Hague.

Since most of the nominal monetary-financial assets abroad presently, are loaded with an implicitly hyper-inflationary accumulations of increasingly worthless “paper,” an immediate change from a monetary system, to a fixed-exchange-rate credit system, is the only presently available hope for avoiding the plunge of the planet as a whole into a prolonged new dark age.

What is written on the current state of the British empire, is admittedly harsh, but must be stated as a truthful representation, without fear of any actual exaggeration respecting the current policies of practice of the present British Royal House. I have been careful, not to overlook the natural, national rights of the people of the United Kingdom, with whom I, after all, share an certain ancient ancestry.

January 9, 2010 (LPAC)—Iceland President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson warned British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling to be careful about the Iceland-bashing. "It is very important for Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown to realize that a few minutes after they speak to their audience in Britain, everything they say is being talked about in Icelandic fishing plants, and every village, and every office. We live in a global village where leaders in Britain can have a negative or positive impact on a referendum in Iceland," Grimsson told Britain's "Today" program. "If they want a constructive outcome of this dispute, they should be aware every sentence they say will have repercussions on the debate in Iceland."

Nothing has changed at Downing Street since the Versailles Congress 1918: the British government is behaving towards Iceland as it did with German reparations after World War I. The Financial Service Secretary to the U.K. Treasury, Paul Myners, has written a letter to the Financial Times making the point that it is "Important that this international agreement is honored." Apparently annoyed by the Financial Times opposition to the gunboat methods of the British government, Myners says: "It is very important that Iceland honors its international obligations and repays money provided by the U.K. to protect Icesave depositors." Myners argues sophistically that the repayment agreement allows Iceland to honor the debt without hampering its economic recovery, but does not move one inch away from his position. According to Myners, for Iceland to dedicate 4% of its GDP just to repay Icesave's speculative losses is fair! And this, at the same time that Iceland is promised EU membership, which means submitting to a 3% cap on deficit!

Myners' rantings are published under a letter pushing the opposite view, written by a Cambridge Fellow named Michael Waibel, who warns Britain that under EU laws, Britain has "no clear legal obligation to pay up." That in the best case, England has only 60% chance of winning its case. And even then, one should remember "the advice given by Elihu Root, a former U.S. Secretary of State and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, to James Brown Scott, his legal adviser: 'We must always be careful, and especially so in our relations with the smaller state, that we never propose a settlement which we would not be willing to accept if the situation were reversed.'"

Iceland's Economy Minister Gylfi Magnusson confirmed in Dagens Nyheter today that the government will probably resign if the referendum turns down their Icesave bill.

SOMEONE should give Gordon Brown a copy of John Maynard Keynes’ The Economic Consequences of the Peace. Published in 1919, it addressed post-war Germany – but the book is uncannily relevant to the situation in today’s Iceland, explaining how crippling reparations enforced by powerful foreign nations on an unwilling population are counter-productive. Iceland – unlike Weimar Germany – won’t turn to extremism, though an eventual descent into national bankruptcy and hyperinflation is a real possibility, with Fitch yesterday downgrading the country’s debt to junk.

The UK and Dutch governments have been too harsh towards Iceland, to deflect the attention from their own stupidity – and now its people, who fear being pushed into poverty, are revolting. It is the first successful grass-roots anti-tax, anti-bailout revolt since the onset of the credit crunch.

The row boils down to Landsbanki’s Icesave unit, which like the rest of the Icelandic banking system collapsed in 2008. A small group of Icelandic entrepreneurs pushed the crazed Northern Rock banking model to its extreme, borrowing vast amounts to build financial giants with massive European property assets. These were often operated out of London and given the seal of approval by the FSA, academics and “experts”. But when the credit markets imploded, the banks collapsed.

British and Dutch depositors in Icesave were bailed out by their governments; Iceland had said it would cover the first €20,887 in accounts but didn’t have the foreign currency to meet its obligations. It was a worthless promise which should have been seen as such by the UK authorities: tiny nations are physically unable to guarantee all the foreign liabilities of any giant bank that they happen to host. Either they shouldn’t host the banks; or they should explicitly state that they are unprotected and in a real free market; or their banks should take part in pre-funded insurance schemes.

The bankers were incompetent, as were the Icelandic authorities, the UK authorities, the EU and the depositors who didn’t do their research. Egged on by price comparison websites and personal finance pages, the public assumed regulators would ensure every newfangled online bank was safe and forgot that high returns often mean high risk. Instead of acknowledging this, Brown is pursuing a vendetta against Iceland, trying to recoup all of the cash from its government.

Bailouts have been unpopular all over the world. Until now, however, voters were never consulted – but after a fifth of Iceland’s entire population signed a petition against the terms of a proposed £3.6bn reimbursement (at a 5.5 per cent rate of interest and a 14-year schedule) the proposal will now be put to a referendum and crushed. The sums involved are huge: 40-60 per cent of Iceland’s national income, taking the national debt to 200 per cent of GDP. Each of Iceland’s 304,000 citizen would have to pay £11,700 without getting shares or any assets in return. The money would be gone for good. Imagine if UK taxpayers were asked to pay £700bn to overseas governments because one of our banks had messed up. We too would be up in arms.

Iceland will hopefully hand over some money, albeit on more sensible terms. But the last thing we need is for Britain, the IMF and the EU to push Reykjavik into total bankruptcy or nobody will get anything. December 24, 2009 (LPAC)—Buried in the hundreds of pages of the bill Reid is ramming through the Senate, in Sec. 3403 dealing with the IMAC (or IMAB), which is a genocide panel equivalent to Hitler's 1939 "T4" policy of genocide, Harry Reid was criminal enough to write that no future Senate or House of Representatives would ever be allowed to question the Nazi policy of IMAC, or, exactly as he says there in his own words: "It shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection." Like Hitler's "Thousand-Year Reich," Reid would throw the Constitution overboard to make the IMAC death-panel the unalterable law of the United States forever! This is nothing but a Hitler demand of Harry Reid. And if Obama goes through with that, and supports it, then Obama is dead meat. He'll be impeached. Because the US population now will not go with Hitler healthcare policies. Reid should resign now, out of embarrassment for pushing this through!
Therefore, Lyndon LaRouche today demanded the immediate resignation of Harry Reid. "Because Harry Reid has now made himself a duplicate of Adolf Hitler, he's responsible for every Jew who was killed by Hitler," LaRouche said. "Harry Reid must take personal responsibility for every Jew killed by Hitler, by allowing this thing to go through. Every Jew who was killed by Hitler, Harry Reid is responsible for now! He must resign immediately in embarrassment, in abject apology to the American people for copying exactly the Hitler policy, which is so infamous. He has made a page for himself in infamy!
"No one has the authority in the Senate to do that," LaRouche specified. "We demand the immediate resignation of Harry Reid on the basis of his having done this. "Harry Reid has committed a crime against humanity," LaRouche continued. "He has consciously condoned a crime against humanity, and this feature of the legislation which he rammed through, is a crime against humanity. And if he's got any honor left in him, he's going to publicly resign. That's from me. They need that from me," LaRouche added, "because there's nobody else with any guts in this damn situation, who's in a key leading position. Bill Clinton has certainly not got the guts to deal with this; I have to deal with it.
"We demand the resignation of Harry Reid," said LaRouche, "and if the President supports it, we demand his resignation. Because all the Jews and others murdered under Hitler, will now move, spiritually, to demand their resignations.
"This guy is dead meat," LaRouche said of Reid. "He's committed a crime which is not forgiveable. He's out, he's finished. This action by him has finished him. He's finished as a political figure in the United States. The reason he's finished, essentially, is not what he's done. It's his lack of guts. He's finished because of his lack of guts. He lost because of his lack of guts.
"I condemn him not for his crimes, in terms of this fascist policy, but for his lack of guts in that he's enforcing it," LaRouche concluded.

Let's get the picture: First of all, what some of you still don't understand, even bright people, you still think in terms of kinematics, not dynamics, and this is typical. There are very few people— only by being pushed, do they ever get to dynamics. You're just not used to it. A former President doesn't really understand it, either, and they make mistakes.
All right, now what are we into? We saw a process last August, in which a lot of the American people went out to tell their Congress, "You — shut up! Now, listen: Here's what we want you to do for us, now you listen!" Okay, that process didn't end. It wasn't an "event": There was a process, where the American people were stirred up to the point, they were telling their representatives in the Congress, "You! Shut up. Listen —you're acting terribly. You're going to change now, aren't you? Here's what we want you to do, we want you to listen, and change your behavior."
Well, they didn't, did they? They still are playing the games, like the crazy thing — I mean, this idea of trying to push this health care through is a real piece of idiocy! Particularly at this stage.
Well, the process has gone on, since last August. It's undergone various transformations. Now, we're reaching the point that we're headed toward a breakdown. There's a breakdown crisis in process in Europe, there's a breakdown crisis in the Americas, there's a breakdown crisis inside the United States. We can not, at this point, assume, that unless we do what I will emphasize we must do, by the middle of January — no later — unless we do that, the United States will go down, and the world will go down, into a prolonged Dark Age. So people who have these ideas about step-by-step, the usual kinematic kind of thing, we'll do this, and then we'll do this, and then we'll do this — no! You won't do that.
What's going to have to happen, the first thing that's going to have to happen to do any damned good at all—any other measure's a waste of time—is to immediately install a transformation from a monetary system to a credit system. And this is done by the vehicle of a Glass-Steagall reform of the entire banking system. Which means that those parts of the banking system which do not conform to a Glass-Steagall standard are simply put aside; they don't count. And that would probably take a good deal of about $22-23 trillion worth of bailout money away—it would just fly away, a good deal of it. And then, we would turn around, on the same day virtually, and we would utter credit-system credit for large-scale programs. We would immediately install the Homeowners and Bank Protection Act of 2007, which should have been done then: because the housing crisis is very serious, right now, and there's no answer to it, except this.
First of all, you agree that you're going to change the U.S. system, from a monetary system, which it is now, to a credit system. And the credit system will conform to a Glass-Steagall standard for commercial banks. And we're concerned only about commercial banks, and also savings banks, of course; but, commercial banks. The Wall Street-type banks, they're on their own. If they can't meet up to the standard? That's it! We're going to write off trillions of dollars of phony-money debt, in order to save the world.
And this has to be done in the first weeks in January. This is the highest priority: This is emergency legislation, because if we don't do that, somewhere, maybe a little bit after the middle of January, or even possibly before, the whole system's coming down if we don't do it, beforehand. Attributes of the Antisocial Personality:

1. He or she speaks only in very broad generalities. “They say…”
“Everybody thinks…” “Everyone knows…” and such expressions are in
continual use, particularly when imparting rumor. When asked, “Who is
everybody…” it normally turns out to be one source and from this source the
antisocial person has manufactured what he or she pretends is the whole
opinion of the whole society.
This is natural to them since to them all society is a large hostile generality,
against the antisocial in particular.

2. Such a person deals mainly in bad news, critical or hostile
remarks, invalidation and general suppression.
“Gossip” or “bearer of evil tidings” or “rumormonger” once described
such persons.
It is notable that there is no good news or complimentary remark passed
on by such a person.

3. The antisocial personality alters, to worsen, communication
when he or she relays a message or news. Good news is stopped and only
bad news, often embellished, is passed along.
Such a person also pretends to pass on “bad news” which is in actual fact
invented.

4. A characteristic, and one of the sad things about an antisocial
personality, is that it does not respond to treatment or reform.

5. Surrounding such a personality we find cowed or ill
associates or friends who, when not driven actually insane, are yet
behaving in a crippled manner in life, failing, not succeeding.
Such people make trouble for others.
When treated or educated, the near associate of the antisocial personality
has no stability of gain but promptly relapses or loses his advantages of
knowledge, being under the suppressive influence of the other.

Physically treated, such associates commonly do not recover in the
expected time but worsen and have poor convalescences.
It is quite useless to treat or help or train such persons so long as they
remain under the influence of the antisocial connection.
The largest number of insane are insane because of such antisocial
connections and do not recover easily for the same reason.
Unjustly we seldom see the antisocial personality actually in an
institution. Only his “friends” and family are there.

6. The antisocial personality habitually selects the wrong target.
If a tire is flat from driving over nails, he or she curses a companion or a
noncausative source of the trouble. If the radio next door is too loud, he or she
kicks the cat. If A is the obvious cause, the antisocial personality inevitably blames B or
C or D.

7. The antisocial cannot finish a cycle of action. Any action goes
through a sequence wherein the action is begun, is continued for as long as is
required and is completed as planned.
The antisocial becomes surrounded with incomplete projects.

8. Many antisocial persons will freely confess to the most
alarming crimes when forced to do so, but will have no faintest sense
of responsibility for them.
Their actions have little or nothing to do with their own volition. Things
“just happened.”
They have no sense of correct causation and particularly cannot feel any
sense of remorse or shame therefore.

9. The antisocial personality supports only destructive groups
and rages against and attacks any constructive or betterment group.

10. This type of personality approves only of destructive actions
and fights against constructive or helpful actions or activities.
The artist in particular is often found as a magnet for persons with
antisocial personalities who see in his art something which must be destroyed
and covertly, “as a friend,” proceed to try.

11. Helping others is an activity which drives the antisocial
personality nearly berserk. Activities, however, which destroy in the
name of help are closely supported.

12. The antisocial personality has a bad sense of property and
conceives that the idea that anyone owns anything is a pretense,
made up to fool people. Nothing is ever really owned.
